Catholicos of All Armenians Hosted the President of the Central American Parliament 23.04.2021

On April 23, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; hosted the Delegation led by Mrs. Fanny Carolina Salinas Fernández, President of the Central American Parliament. The Catholicos of All Armenians welcomed the warm relations between the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the Central American Parliament, established in recent years, wishing that the established cooperation will prosper with new achievements due to the memorandum on inter-parliamentary cooperation that will be signed in the coming days. His Holiness importantly noted that the visit of Mrs. Fernández to Armenia takes place on symbolic days, when the Armenian people commemorate the Holy Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide. Speaking about the Genocide committed against the Armenian people a century ago, the Armenian Pontiff noted, that the elimination of such atrocities in the history of mankind is possible only due to the cooperation of all nations. The Catholicos of All Armenians emphasized, that the visit of the Delegation of the Central American Parliament is a proof of that cooperation. The Pontiff of All Armenians also reflected on the second War of Artsakh and the great losses of the Armenian people. His Holiness expressed hope, that the international community will condemn the war crimes committed in front of the eyes of the world. The Patriarch of All Armenians emphasized that the world can develop and prosper by anchoring the human life on law, on the values of justice and truth. In her turn, Mrs. Fernández, expressing joy for the reception, noted that, it is important for her to be in the country which is considered to be the first to adopt Christianity as the state religion in the world. Touching upon to the difficulties of the people of the Central America and condemning atrocities against humanity; Mrs. Fernández emphasized, that due to the developing cooperation, the nations involved in the Central American Parliament, will become a bridge in the process of recognizing the Armenian Genocide.
