Armenian Apostolic Holy Church The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

On January 19, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received His Grace Bishop Gevork Saroyan, Primate of the Diocese of Masyatsotn, who was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of theology at Durham University in England. 

With the blessing of His Holiness, Bishop Gevorg continued his studies at Durham University, defending his doctoral thesis entitled "The origin of humanitarian culture of the Armenian Church: Nerses the Great and the issue of Greek influence". At the meeting, the Patriarch of All Armenians, stressing the importance of the scientific achievement of the Bishop, emphasized that this work will provide an opportunity for the public and theologians to familiarize themselves with the humanitarian activities of Patriarch Nerses.

The Armenian Patriarch noted with gratitude that in parallel with the spiritual service, the clergy also carry out scientific activities, urging Bishop Gevorg to make the accumulated knowledge effective with new studies.

At the conclusion, the Bishop handed over his thesis and the doctorate degree certificate to His Holiness.
