Armenian Apostolic Holy Church The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

On January 19, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received the delegation of the Mexico-Armenia friendship group, led by the head of the group, Berenice Juárez Navarrete. 

Armenian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Mexico Armella Shakaryan and Honorary Consul of Mexico to Armenia Nikolay Kostandyan were also present at the meeting.

At the meeting, the Catholicos of All Armenians expressed hope that the visit of the delegation to Armenia will further deepen the friendly relations between the two countries in various fields. Recalling his patriarchal visit to Mexico, the Catholicos of All Armenians also expressed his satisfaction for the caring attitude of the Mexican authorities towards the Armenian community.

Referring to the difficult situation prevailing in the region and the blocking of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan, His Holiness expressed his concern regarding the new harassment against the right of the people of Artsakh to live peacefully and freely and the resulting humanitarian disaster. The Armenian Patriarch noted the consistent active steps of the international community in the direction of reopening the Lachin Corridor.

In her speech, the president of the group, Berenice Juárez Navarrete, emphasized the importance of the efforts to establish peace in the region and protect the right to a safe life.

During the conversation, His Holiness also conveyed information on the works being carried out by the Mother See in the direction of the protection of the spiritual and cultural heritage of Artsakh in the territories under the control of Azerbaijan and the reopening of the Lachin Corridor.
