Armenian Apostolic Holy Church The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

On December 14, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Lynne Tracy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Armenia, who is completing her diplomatic mission in Armenia.

During the meeting, a private reference was made to the situation around the Lachin Corridor in recent days, as a result of which Nagorno Karabakh has been under siege. His Holiness, condemning this reality, emphasized that Azerbaijan's goal is the depopulation of Artsakh, and such an anti-Armenian policy will lead to a humanitarian disaster.

In order to resolve the situation, His Holiness noted that the appropriate measures of the international community, particularly the co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group, are vital in order to stop the brutal actions of Azerbaijan.

The Catholicos of All Armenians and the US Ambassador to RA also talked about overcoming the consequences of the war, the peaceful settlement of the Artsakh problem, and the work being done to preserve the Armenian historical spiritual and cultural heritage under the control of Azerbaijan. In this regard, His Holiness conveyed his appreciation through the Ambassador to the US authorities for the support shown to Armenia during the war and post-war period.
