The 6th Christian Inter-Confessional Consultative Committee Convened in Moscow 30.10.2019

On October 30, in Moscow, through the initiative and under the presidency of three Christian denominations operating in Russia: the Russian Orthodox Church, the Catholic Church, and the Evangelical-Lutheran Churches; the 6th meeting of the Christian Inter-Confessional Consultative Committee convened. The theme of the plenary sessions was: “The Eternal Power of the Gospel and Its Significance for the Modern Society”.   Among the attendees are representatives of Christian confessions in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russian Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.

With the Blessings of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External Relations and Protocol Department of the Mother See; Very Rev. Fr. Shahe Ananyan, Director of the Ecumenical Department of the Mother See; Rev. Fr. Poghos Vardanyan and Fr. Gevorg Vardanyan from the Armenian Diocese of New Nakhijevan and Russia; were present at the Council on behalf of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Four round-table discussions were held: “Following in the steps of Christ. The Christian identity today”; ‘Following in the Steps of Christ. Being a Christian today’; ‘Peace-making: the Gospel’s way’; ‘The Gospel: the moral guide in modern society’; ‘The Gospel and service of the neighbor (diakonia)’. Based on the discussions, an appeal was drafted, signed and adopted by the members present.
