The Catholicos of All Armenians Received the Newly Appointed US Ambassador to Armenia

On February 28, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mrs. Christina Kvien, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Armenia in the Holy Etchmiadzin Mother See.
His Eminence conveyed his congratulations and best wishes for a successful mission to the Ambassador.
The Patriarch of All Armenians, on behalf of the US ambassador, expressed his gratitude to the authorities of the United States for the support shown towards our country and people and for the efforts aimed at establishing peace in the region.
His Holiness reflected on the security issues facing Armenia and Artsakh; Azerbaijan’s dimensional ambitions; their occupation of the sovereign territories of Armenia, expressing hope that the United States of America will take active steps to restrain Azerbaijan's similar policy and protect the right to self-determination of Artsakh Armenians. The Armenian Patriarch particularly emphasized the importance of releasing the captive Armenians.
The interlocutors also discussed the issues of preservation of the spiritual and cultural heritage of Artsakh in the territories that passed under the control of Azerbaijan, the documented incidents of desecration and destruction of shrines.
In turn, Ambassador Christina Kvein expressed gratitude to His Holiness for the best wishes, assured that the United States of America and herself will continue their efforts to establish peace and stability in the region.
