Rev. Fr. Archimandrite Grigoris Shoghikyan handed the certificate of his academic title to the Catholicos of All Armenians 25.12.2023

On December 25, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Rev. Fr. Archimandrite Grigoris Shoghikyan, clerk-Secretary of the Catholicosate Office, who was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophical Sciences at the University of Nottingham, Great Britain.

With the blessings of His Holiness, Archimandrite Grigoris continued his studies at the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies of the University of Nottingham, defending his doctoral thesis entitled: "Historic analysis of the Armenian liturgy: an examination of liturgical theological discourse".

Father Grigoris, presenting his doctoral thesis to His Holiness, emphasized that the purpose of his work is to historically value the formation and development of the Armenian Liturgy in the pan-Christian context with a detailed analysis of the Armenian Liturgy.

The Patriarch of All Armenians, congratulating the Archimandrite for his scientific achievement, emphasized with satisfaction that this work will provide an opportunity for the theologians of the Christian Churches to familiarize themselves with the liturgical theological features of the Armenian Liturgy.

The Armenian Patriarch noted with joy that Armenian clergymen, studying in theological universities and carrying out scientific activities, make an important contribution to the mission of the Armenian Church. The Catholicos of All Armenians urged Father Grigoris to bring the accumulated knowledge to fruition with new studies.

At the conclusion, Archimandrite Grigoris presented his thesis work and the doctorate degree certificate to His Holiness.
