Catholicos of All Armenians Received Newly Appointed Governor of Shirak 04.03.2019

On March 4, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Tigran Petrosyan, the newly appointed Governor of Shirak. He was accompanied by His Eminence Archbishop Michael Ajapahyan, Primate of the Diocese of Shirak.
The Catholicos of All Armenians conveyed his congratulations and blessings to the governor on his appointment.

During the meeting, they spoke about the disastrous consequences of the 1988 earthquake and efforts to overcome them. In this regard, His Holiness noted that the population of Shirak, thanks to its faith and strong will, was able to keep its spirit strong and firm. His Holiness emphasized that today works are being undertaken by the state in order to restore the former glory of Gyumri. The Armenian Pontiff stated that the Mother See has always supported Gyumri, contributing to the solution of social issues through various programs, as well as the development of cultural life. The Catholicos of All Armenians confirmed that these programs initiated by the Mother See and the Diocese will be continuous.

Referring to the strengthening of the spiritual life of the Diocese and service of the clergy, the Catholicos of All Armenians also stressed that the people of Shirak have always been distinguished by their zeal towards the Christian faith and church-loving description.

In turn, the newly appointed Governor noted that as an Armenian and Christian he is honored to be in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. Mr. Tigran Petrosyan presented His Holiness the problems and current challenges of the Shirak region, and referred to the prospects of regional development.
At the conclusion, His Holiness Karekin II wished the Governor strength and ability for the prosperity and well-being of the people of the region.
