Catholicos of All Armenians Met with President Sahakyan of Artsakh

On April 22, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; met with President Bako Sahakyan, of the Artsakh Republic.
During the meeting, the Armenian Pontiff and President Sahakyan expressed their concern over the recent events in Yerevan.
His Holiness noted with regret that the efforts towards dialogue did not provide any positive results and a clash between the protesters and police took place. “We hope and pray that the situation will calm down and the normal course of life will be soon restored”, stated His Holiness, adding that clergymen of the Mother See are involved in these processes to exert efforts to prevent clashes and their heavy consequences.
The Catholicos of All Armenians and the President of Artsakh underlined that the existing situation is unacceptable, which undermines national unity and thus endangers the security of Artsakh and Homeland borders.
It was noted that the maintaining of internal political stability in the country and the resolution of problems through dialogue is a vital necessity.
